According to Vastu, basement in residence house should be avoided as it is low room / space or empty space under the house and hence not considered auspicious. Basement can be in North or east part of house as there should be it should be spacious than south or west.
Basement can be for storage or other things but not for living or resting.
One can put heavy items in the south and west part of direction only and not in north or east. Basement should be regular shaped i.e. square or rectangle and never odd shaped as it may cause losses and health problems.
About 1/4th of the basement should be above the ground level with total height be at least 2.8m.
Use light and subtle colors for walls avoiding dark shades.
