Vastu Guide for Flats
Vaastu recommends that the master bedrooms should be in the southwest portion of flat. If your flat has more than one floor, then master bedroom should be on the topmost floor. Ceiling height should be uniform to have even distribution of energy which helps the residents keep mind in steady state.
Children’s room should be in the northwest.
Bathroom should be in the west or south with its drains flowing towards northeast.
Living room should be in northwest, south or west direction.
Maximum open space should be in north and east directions. Heavy items as furniture should be placed in south and west.
Northeast, northwest, north, west, east is ideal for a study room. Adjacent study and Pooja (worship) room is considered most favorable.
Kitchen should ideally be located in southeast (Agni) corner. Cook should face east while cooking. Water points should be in northeast. Daily wastes from the kitchen should be kept covered in the southwest corner of the kitchen.
Store room can be constructed in the south. Grain and other provisions can be stored in the kitchen or in other rooms and cupboards. Things should not be stored in box beds, because it causes sleeping disorders.
Children’s room can be constructed in the northwest corner.
Doors should be facing the north or east.
Guest room should be in the northwest. This direction is also considered good for unmarried girls especially in marriageable age.
Rooms in the north should be larger than those in south with ceiling height of all the rooms between 12-14 feet.
Main door should be the largest door.
Windows should be in the north and east, at least 3 feet above ground level and be at the same height from the top.
